Tassja created Sweetwater to combine her knowledge of colour and design with her love of all things spa related. Being a visual artist she excels at sculpture, carving, sketching, and enjoys refinishing, repurposing, and restoring thrift store finds into something unexpectedly beautiful. Her creative influences can be seen clearly through the creation of her custom spa products, inspired seasonal spa specials, special occasion upstyles, and bespoke nail art.
Growing up on the Bruce Peninsula provides Tassja with inspiration and future vision for Sweetwater. She researches and sources products that are as local as possible, sustainable, vegan, and cruelty free. Her constant desire to find healthy and effective natural beauty products has turned her into a lifetime student of aromatherapy, healing with herbs, and cosmetic chemistry. A desire to protect the unique ecosystem of the area prompted Sweetwater to become a proud member of Green Circle Salons, a company that recycles nearly all salon and spa waste, lessening the burden on landfills.
Her career started at the age of 18 at a beautiful Aveda Spa, where she trained under an award winning esthetician, Mindy Biggar. Spending her day surrounded by essential oils, hot towels and ambient music provided the type of calming work environment she thrived in. Starting with certification in nail enhancements, manicures and pedicures (2005), over the years she has expanded her esthetics skill set to include advanced pedicure techniques, facials, relaxation massage, makeup artistry and hair removal. Wanting to broaden her skill set to include hair styling, in 2012 Tassja completed her apprenticeship and became a licensed stylist. Her continued education includes advanced colour & cutting techniques, and maintaining her skills to include current beauty trends.
When not in the studio you will see Tassja on adventures with her two beautiful and hilarious boys (100% biased), cleaning her house (very likely), relaxing with a good book (occasionally), or enjoying nights out with her friends (as often as possible).

Tara Carson
Tara is our resident nail and skin care specialist. Her calming and quiet demeanor will help ease your tension away while she transforms your skin and nails. Tara's sensitivities to many common salon toxins kept her out of salons and spas for many years. Now that she has found Sweetwater she can share her excitement and passion for esthetics with our Beauties of the Bruce.
Tara is totally hooked on education and is constantly on the lookout for the next class she can take to bring her knowledge back to Sweetwater to keep our guests informed and up to date on the latest trends and technology in nail and skin care. She is currently excited about her upcoming class for lash extensions.
Tara grew up in Wiarton, married her high school sweetheart and has two beautiful daughters. When she isn't in the salon you will find her on last minute road trips, and random adventures seeing what surprises are in-store around the next bend, or searching for the ultimate french fry.

Amy Thompson
Amy is certified for full body waxing, and is apprenticing in the salon to become a hairstylist. Her advanced waxing techniques will keep your services quick and comfortable, and with her attention to detail you can be certain she will remove all your unwanted hair. In the salon she performs color and highlight application, and lots of shampoos, and blow dry styles. She has mad braiding skills, and her flawless natural makeup applications will leave you looking like a beautifully refined version of yourself.
Amy grew up in Wiarton, and calls Oliphant home now. She and her husband have two energetic kids, and thank goodness, because they would have a hard time keeping up with Amy otherwise. She volunteers quite a bit in her community and is the friend you can always depend on. She is super excited about her upcoming school year, and we can't wait to hear about everything she is learning!

At Sweetwater Hair & Bodyworks we believe that our self-care rituals should not be toxic to our bodies or our planet.
We pride ourselves in being a member of Green Circle Salons, a company that recycles salon waste that normally ends up in our landfills and down our drains. I send in hair clippings that are used to clean up oil spills in our oceans, filter storm water, and also pulverized and added to plastics replacing the need for petrochemicals.
Excess hair color is dehydrated, pressed into bricks and used to create energy in much the same way as fossil fuels. Used foils are cleaned and recycled back into salons in the form of new foils, water bottles, etc.
